hi - i,m new to this forum and would love some advice on our decision to move to cr. we have two young boys 8 and 10 and the youngest is a special needs child with autism . we were wanting to find out about private schools in the manuel antonio area. i am thinking of doing something in the tourist line like buying with owner finance a hotel or similar asn also hope this will give us residence. also wanted to know if we can get medical insurance without permanent residence. we are open to suggestions on areas besides san jose if you think our choice of manuel antonio is not a good one.
thanks for any advice!

Thanx for visiting our Forum, Gerarde. The closest private school would be in Jaco beach and that's over an hour drive. Only Guanacaste has a real good private school (Country Day School) and the rest of the beach areas all have something but most children suffer years later when they need to get to high school or college. The Central Valley though, offers many good, private bi-lingual schools. There are all kinds of International medical Insurances available but the INS "medical" is only available for residents. INS also has a cheaper option but that one has hardly any coverage. For any questions about local and international insurance, feel free to email our insurance agent Isidro Gonzalez at seguros1@racsa.co.cr

Thanx for your participation DenRose134,In fact, you can get medical insurance from INS if you give them a sworn declaration (done by an attorney) that you live in Costa Rica even though you don't have residency. The reason for that is that people who live in countries where insurance is more expensive (like in the US) don't use this insurance.

About the schools in Manuel Antonio, unfortunately I don't know and we don't have any partners in our group in that particular area.
