CR residency renewed in Banco de Costa Rica

Nowadays, if you are a resident, you can renew your temporary or permanent residency in the Banco Costa Rica, you cannot even do it in emigration anymore. What to do?

Call  800-2272482 and they will ask for your cédula number. In my case, of course they couldn't find me in the computer, so I had to make a trip to emigration where after standing in line for over an hour, it took them 20 seconds to tell me I have several zero's missing. So if that happens to you, tell the people in the Banco de Costa Rica to fill in the zeros. The BCR will give you a date for the appointment (in  my case 4 months later) and you can ask to have the appointment in the closest BCR office. They'll tell you how much money to bring and to bring your old cédula.
