Anyone have info on Costa Developers and their Costa Montana project?

Well after looking at there site and the fact that they completed there first project and did quite a nice job, unlike many projects like Trevors which will never get built. All you took away from it was something about them claiming you could get rich investing in real estate(by the way you can). We bought our 5100M2 lot(in CH) for $30,000 just 2kms from the beach and approx. 8kms from Jaco. I'm glad I did not listen to your or Trevors opinion and looked into it myself.  I thought maybe you would point out how lovely Columbus Heights turned out, pavers on all the roads, electric and water to every lot. A very nice gate house with a guard! Or even the fact that they have listed all the titles to each lot along with a link so you can verify that the lot has been registered. They have even posted all there permits on line as they are issued so you don't have to assume they have them all in order. Sounds like the words "I was wrong" are not in your dictionary.

Do you work for them? By the tone of your posts you sound like you have some kind of a vested interest in this project. IMHO if one does not have the time to do thier diligence, one really shouldn't be buying property anywhere in the world.

Hello? If I worked for them I would have let you know.  I just like to deal with facts, I have been going to Costa Rica for over 6 years and am in the process of building a house in Columbus Heights. Bottom line they did what they said they would do and just as those out there posting all the horror stories I'm posting a success.

Outstanding article! This is what doing your diligence before building is all about. Ignorance of the law or blind trust in a developer is no excuse.

I sold the property to Costa Developers in Esterillos Oeste which they are to use as their "beach club". To date, they paid my partner ALL FUNDS and have not given me a red cent even though our contract clearly states that we were 50/50 owners and that checks should be payable to BOTH partners.  Additionally, this partner attacked me nearly a year ago - and I went to Costa Developers COO and explained, showing documents, police reports, etc.

In my opinion and from my experience, they are a mysoginistic "boys club" who break the laws and violate human rights to maintain power and control of their money. They are a scam with their newsletter at their website showing them as an "example" of environmentally conscious building practicies, and then they are fined by the Tribunal Ambiental for being extremely destructive to the environment.

They assisted this batterer and criminal in the theft of my vehicle, did not return corportate documents, failed to perform on their contract with me, and from experience are sexist liars. I would not recommend their project to anyone. They are thugs and criminals whose hands are dirtied with corrupt players and payoffs and I would advise to STEER CLEAR of any of their projects or properties.

Hi there,
  new to this site, so I am busy absorbing all the information.  My husband and I are very interested in buying Costa Esterillos ( with costa developers)..so far experience has been good, nothing to high pressure.  They have asked for the 25K down payment with Chicago Titles, and we are heading there Oct 4 to check it all out.  According to my sales rep, Esterillos has underground utilities, everything is on track.  I guess we'll see when we get there.  The website looks good, with tons of pictures showing the progress.  I have been given information including names and phone numbers in CR for any questions, etc.  A little nervous as I have never invested outside of Canada before.  I definately have a few more questions to ask after reading some of the posts.  I will admit that I have only been to CR once ( in May) and fell in love with the beautiful land, and the fact that it is not like Cancun ( which I really like as my husband is from there.. but too touristy and busy).    We are quite excited, but being new to all of this, trying to find out information as we go along.  I read about due diligence which is great...but sometimes the due diligence is hard to do, if you are not entirely sure what to ask, where to look.  Doing my best.  I printed off the developer quiz.  I certainly will report back after we get back with information to help out anyone else with questions, info, and for general information.
