Just wondering if somebody has experience with topographical maps of CR. So far I have a 1:200,000 map which is OK and shows moderate details. I heard there are area maps in 1:50,000 scale. Where can I get them from? How good are they? I'm originally from Switzerland. There we have high detail maps in 1:25,000 scale. Anything like that existing in CR?

When buying a property I would like to see it on various maps with different scales to understand the whole context of roads, infrastructure, nature etc.

Zoom In with Google Earth works to some degree but has a limited detail resolution for CR.

Thanx for your participation. Most of the maps I have in my office are 1:10,000. All maps plus satelite photos can be gotten at the MOPT (Ministry of Transport) on the west side of Plaza Viquez in San Jose. For the satelite photos you need to bring a cd and they will have it ready for you the next day, at teh cost of ¢5,000. The maps have different prices.
I hope this helps
