Yes, Michael, I can recommend Isabelle Jones of the Godutch office in Atenas or Terry Gribble of Tucan Realty. Both real estate agents work this area. Don't use a driver to buy real estate, use a realtor. That's the best recommendation I can give you. Also do not use just any attorney when you buy, use an attorney who specializes in Real Estate.

Thanks Ivo:

Thanks for your response! We have met Isabelle and plan on re-connecting with her when we come down to Costa Rica again in January. So I'm not looking for a driver to show us real estate.

Actually,  I was wanting to know if anyone could recommend a driver for various things such running into San jose on occasion or just travelling around the central valley.... running errands, etc. We do not plan to rent a car for three months because of the expense.

Regards,

Michael

You might consider going by bus between cities and using the normal taxi once you get there.  You make them put on the meter so you won't end up getting overcharged.  You should be able to find a radio dispatched taxi service in Grecia, or at the central park connect with a driver who has a cell phone.  That way you could have a regular driver for local trips and wouldn't have to keep giving your address all the time.

Here is a good guide for the public intercity buses:   Costa Rica by Bus

Most buses charge less than $5 per ticket and you can go anywhere in the country.  Most of the time they are comfortable and they are not overcrowded since no standing passengers are allowed.

For tour day trips there are some drivers that advertise in the Tico Times classifieds, you might call them when you get here or check out the online edition ( ticotimes.net )
