According to what I've read, malaria seems to be a problem there .  Is it mostly in certain areas, say inland more than on the pacific coast?  Having children we are very concerned about the risk.

Hi Reyna,
Thanx for your posting. Some coastal areas have "dengue" which is a form of malaria. We see a lot of European clients coming in that have been told to take malaria pills, but those don't work against dengue. As soon as you arrive here, you can get shots against dengue in any hospital very cheaply, so there is no worry for you or your family. The Central Valley has never seen a case of dengue that I know of. We really don't have a lot of tropical deseases here, this is the "healthiest" country in Central America.
