HI Wanda,
Today is your lucky day because my sister-in-law has a group of classmates here doing a project for their social work studies. They happen to have a copy of the code of ethics and regulations for the Costa Rican Social Workers Association.
According to Chapter 2 Article 14 - "... persons can join the association who:
1 - have graduated with a degree in Social Services or in Economics and Social Sciences from the University of Costa Rica
2- Graduates in Social Services from foreign Universities if their title is equivalent or superior in the judgment of the association. This judgement can be made in the Department of Registry in the University of Costa Rica.[/i]
Apparently you can join the association and practice here, as long as your degrees are recognized by the association, which more than likely would not present any problem.
The official name of this organization is the Colegio de Trabajadores Sociales de Costa Rica.
